This six-session video-based study offers a variety of practical teachings, insights and life lessons straight out of the practical applications Andrew Marin has learned over the last decade of living and working in the LGBT neighborhood of Chicago called Boystown, as well as his international speaking and consulting ministry. Rather than avoiding the topic of homosexuality, Love Is an Orientation aims to equip the Christian community to bridge the gap between LGBT and religious communities. This is not a group study about “fixing” gay people. It’s about getting to know them, engaging them, and loving them like Jesus does. After this study, you, your small group and your church will know what it means to peacefully and productively build bridges with the LGBT community.
Session 1 brings to light the kind of attitudes needed to reach out to the gay community.
Session 2 shows you ways that you can follow God by reaching out as Jesus did and live as a distinctive follower of Christ.
Session 3 looks at Jesus' interaction with the woman at the well to discern the best way to converse with the gay community.
In Session 4, you will learn the importance of asking open-ended questions and then listening with a learner's heart.
Session 5 focuses on an adult's role in guiding teens through the difficult and sensitive topic of homosexuality.
Session 6 teaches you how to have a "Living in the Tension" gathering and how it can peacefully and productively take on the divisive topics of fatih and sexuality.
